Islamic Financing Methods: The Sudanese Banks Experience

Abstract

The aim of this study is to show the experience of banking transition from conventional banking that focuses on interest-based profit towards Islamic banking, which focuses on Islamic rules and regulations to govern banking transactions, where the Sudanese banking experience has been studied. Through analyzing the various contracts and transactions executed by the Sudanese banking system, we have concluded that the Sudanese experience in term of Islamic financing has known a remarkable development since its instauration in 1983, while there are some difficulties, especially, the secession of the South Sudan, as well as, the US sanctions towards the Sudanese economy.
