Role Of Governments In Supporting Fintech Adoption For Financial Inclusion In Mena Region

Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of governments in promoting the growth of Fintech Industry in MENA region in the context of accelerating the financial inclusion and supporting digital economy. By demonstrating the evolution and growth of Fintech in the region over the period 2015- 2021, and explaining how Fintech industry is regulated and supported by governments, the research reveals that government support by providing a Fintech-friendly regulatory environment and favorable investment climate plays an important role in Fintech development. Therefore, governments in the region should provide opportunities for digital innovation, and to address the gaps in the information and communication technology infrastructure.
