يتحدّثُ هذا البحث عن أسلوب الوصف بالمصدر عند النحويين والبلاغيين، فالمصدر اسم معنى ولا يصحّ أن يكون وصفا لاسم الذات، ولكن وُجد في العربية كثير من الأساليب التي جاء فيها المصدر وصفا، واسم الذات موصوفا، فما هي دلالاته المحتملة التي حدّدها النحويون؟، وما صوره البيانية التي قرّرها البلاغيون؟. هذه الأسئلة التي جاء البحث ليجيب عنها وَفق منهج وصفي تحليليّ. الكلمات المفتاحية: الوصف - المصدر - اسم الذات - اسم المعنى - المجاز.
