Abstract

In the early 2000s, scandals and financial failures series involving high-level leaders in many corporations shed light on the role of leaders in corporate governance practices. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between ethical leadership and corporate governance in a sample of Algerian senior managers. The research population consisted of senior managers and board directors working in Algerian corporations, the sample comprised 30 senior managers. The structural equation modelling (PLS-PM) approach was used as a statistical method for testing hypotheses. The results showed that there is a significant weak impact of ethical leadership on corporate governance, as all its reflective factors: stakeholder rights, transparency and information disclosure, auditing function and the role of the board of directors. The study concluded that ethical behaviour can be developed not only by relying on personal ethical leadership; but it is important to provide guides that direct and promote ethical behaviour.
