الملخص
بعد أن كانت المسيحية ديانة سرية خلال ثلاث قرون، عاش فيها موالوها الاضطهاد والتعذيب بتشجيع من الأباطرة الرومان، ظهرت مطلع القرن الرابع للميلاد شخصية تاريخية تركت أثرا في تاريخ الإمبراطورية الرومانية بشكل عام والمسيحية بشكل خاص تجلت في الإمبراطور قسطنطين الأول الذي تنفس المسيحيون في عهده الصعداء وذلك بانتهاجه التسامح الديني إزائهم وحول المسيحية إلى ديانة علنية ورسمية ومنحها حقوقها كباقي الديانات الأخرى وجعلها قانونية وشرعية، وانتقل من الوثنية إلى العالم المسيحي، حتى صار قسطنطين الأول الأسقف الأكبر للمسيحية في نظر المسيحيين. Abstract After Christianity was a secret religion during three centuries, when its adherents lived persecution and torture encouraged by the Roman emperors, In the dawn of the 4th century, a historical figure appeared that left an impact on the history of the Roman Empire in general and Christianity in particular, This figure manifested in Emperor Constantine I, during whose reign Christians breathed a sigh of relief due to the adoption of a religious tolerance towards them, turning Christianity into a public and official religion, giving Christianity its rights like other religions and making it legal and legitimate, He moved from paganism to the Christian world, until Constantine I became the greatest bishop of Christianity in the eyes of Christians.
