The Evaluation Of The Financial Performance Of Banks: A Comparative Study Between The National Bank Of Algeria And The Societe Generale Algeria

Abstract

Nowadays, the banks' major concern is to identify, analyze and improve their own performances. This is necessarily expressed through the notions of effectiveness and efficiency as well as throughout seeking balance between the financial risk, growth and profitability. This study sheds light on the financial performance; it aims at demonstrating that the different management tools were progressively set up within financial institutions, as a step to help for decision-making and to ensure a better risk management as well. The main purpose of this research paper is to review, through a comparative study, the financial performance of a public bank (the National Bank of Algeria BNA) and a private one (Societe Generale Algeria-SGA). The initial results globally show that the BNA is best-performing than the SGA.
