Auteurs : Arabi Mahfoud .

Résumé

This paper attempts to study the problem of regulating the price of pasteurized milk in Algeria and analyzing of their implications on producers and consumers, the Algerian trade balance and levels of self-sufficiency. The study showed the ineffectiveness of the price policy applied to pasteurized milk in Algeria since 2001, Due to the great contrast between production and consumption, where price policy supports very high consumption while reducing the profit of producers, which reduces production, and encourages the use of milk powder supported in production at the expense of fresh milk, which raises imports and increases the food dependency of foreign markets, this is reflected negatively on levels of self-sufficiency and here emerges the inevitability of the removal of subsidies on pasteurized milk.
