الملخص
لا تزال الكثير من الكتابات الأدبية الجزائرية لصيقة بفترة الاستعمار وما بعدها تحاول أن تنبش في الماضي بحثا عن أسئلة الكينونة ومعرفة الذات، والرواية التي تطالها هذه الدراسة ترسم بكل تفاصلها صراع الذات التي لا تشعر بالانتماء وترفض الاعتراف بالتشوهات التي تُربك وجودها لأنّها لم تعرف سبيل المواجهة بل اختارت الهروب إلى الماضي لتبرير أفعالها والتماهي مع شخصية لا تمت إليها بصلة، إيزابيل ابرهارت الغائبة تصارع جوزيف وجوده السوداوي الكاره لكل ما يربطه بالجزائر، فلماذا يا ترى تكلم جوزيف في الرواية؟ ماذا أراد أن يقول للقارئ الجزائري؟ كيف رسم بصوته ملامح جزائر الاستعمار وما قبل التطرف؟ هل وضع اليد على منابت الأزمة، أم أنّه تبنى رؤية نمطية جاهزة تلعن الأصولية دون الوقوف على أسبابها؟ Many Algerian literary works are still inherent to the colonial era and the postcolonial one, still digging up the past looking for being questions and self-knowledge. The novel that is concerned with this research paper details the self’s struggle that does not feel the sense of belonging and refuses to admit the distortions that threaten its existence. This is because it did not find the way to face, but, rather, chose to escape to the past to justify its actions and set aligned to the character that has nothing to do with it. The absent Isabelle Eberhardt fights Joseph’s blackish existence, hating all that ties him to Algeria. Then, why did Joseph talk in the novel? What did he want to say? How did he shape colonial and pre-extremist Algeria through his voice? Did he lay hands on the crisis background, or did he adopt a ready stereotyped conception, damning fundamentalism with no identification of its causes?
