الملخص

This study looks at media consumption patterns among University of Sharjah students. How do they deal with daily newspapers, magazines, radio stations, television channels and Internet. The study of media exposure among students reveals what they are reading, listening to and watching and what are their media uses and gratifications. Such findings will determine to a large extent what agenda and what impact the news media have on university students. Nowadays, people are spending about six hours per day consuming the news media; and much more if using Internet. University students are spending more time consuming media than studying in classrooms and libraries. This means that the news media are contributing to a large extent to forming the frame of reference and the behavior of the students. The survey method was used in this study; a questionnaire comprising five themes: print newspapers, print magazines, radio stations, television channels and Internet, is to be administered to a sample of male and female students representing all university of Sharjah colleges.
