الملخص
تعود الروائية الأمريكية توني موريسون (1931-2019)، الحاصلة على جائزة نوبل للآداب سنة 1993 في روايتها "رحمة" الصادرة سنة 2008 إلى زمن البدايات الخاصة بتشكل المجتمع الأمريكي؛ لترصد بعين فاحصة الخلفية القاتمة لتاريخ خط العنف مساراته، وتكفل الدين بإضفاء الشرعية عليها، متتبعة محطات العبور والانتقال بين عالمين، امتلك أحدهما امتياز القوة والتفوق، وفرض على الآخر وجوب الخضوع لنظام العبودية؛ لذا يغدو التحرر من هذه السردية شرط وجود، ومغامرة ملحمية تستعيد فيها الذات الإنسانية فاعليتها، بعيدا عن التراتبية المفروضة بمنطق الهيمنة والتمييز العرقي. Abstract: In her novel Mercy (2008), the American Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison (1931-2019) revisits the beginnings of American society; a society shaped by violence and its daily ramifications, and backed up and legitimized as it were by religion. In the novel, Morrison oscillates between two worlds; one which is dominated by a racial supremacy and slavery discourse and the other which is pulled into submission and acceptance of this domination. Breaking through this ‘slave narrative’ is seen by Morrison as an essential step towards reclaiming human dignity, and a mechanism to dismantle the dependency rhetoric from within.
