Résumé
This article proposes to question the relationship to the city through the analysis of the discourse. Paradigms of the representation of the city of Beirut will be studied like some works (novels, essays, dictionaries and testimonies) where Beirut is both object and subject of writing: urban space, it is also and above all semiotic . Intimately linked to history, the relationship to the city of Beirut cannot be conceived outside of the historical past and the evolution of society over time. As a result, the analysis of language variations in the Beirut urban space is based on the reading of socio-historical factors, which offer as many keys to possible interpretation.
