Abstract

In the present work, we report the synthesis of a novel series of nitrobenzaldehyde-Schiff base ligands derived from benzothiazolone pharmacophore. The reaction of the appropriate substituted nitrobenzaldehydes (2-nitrobenzaldehyde, 3-nitrobenzaldehyde and 4-nitrobenzaldehyde) with 6-aminobenzothiazolone substrates, under conventional heat and microwave irradiation methods was investigated, in the aim to reduce the time for completion of the reaction and improve the yields for these Schiff base derivatives formation. The new synthesized compounds were characterized through elemental analysis and 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral data.
