Résumé

Algeria is a very diversified country in terms of its agricultural activity and the same is true for its herbivore breeding. There were major changes in terms of surface area and animals in the last decades. In this work we will make a lecture from MADR, 2017& FAO, 2022 data on the intensification process at national level first then through the departmental level. The statistical analysis elaborated from data collection from DSA in the Region of Tebessa considered as a steppe department, enable us to detect and identify the different changes over time, thus to classify the different zones having known an intensive trajectory. Focusing on structural analysis to study the transformation of livestock activities in time and space, The most important changes in the livestock intensification process concern socio-economic indicators, when the cereal production indicator is occupying a strategic place in the food system and in the national economy. Thus considerable progress is also being made on animal productivity. There has been a very strong evolution of more than 109% in the rate of increase in the production of poultry meat, We show that the transformation of the territories has diverged quite rapidly and has induced different kinds of effects. In summary, the overall trend in the transformation of Algerian livestock farming demonstrate a continuous increase in productivity, with one exception concerning the productivity of herbivorous meat. we can predict an orientation towards intensification in the coming years, based on the current situation regarding socio-economic development as well as the degradation of rangelands and climate change, which will force farmers towards more intensive management.
