الملخص
كان العربي يسكن بلا شك بيئةً عريبة محدودةً بمناطق معينة وتضاريس متباينة ومناخ صعب، لأننا وببساطة ندرس بيئة صحراوية تمثل الصحاري والقفار جزءا كبيرا منها، هذا إنْ علمنا أنّ رُبعا كاملا كان خاليا ، يُعرَف عند الجغرافيين بالرّبع الخالي أو صحراء الدهناء, ومن هنا كان تحديد الموقع الجغرافي للعرب هاما بالنسبة لمثل هذه الدراسة من جهة ، ولحصر هذا الجنس في نطاقٍ معيّن من جهة أخرى. كما كانت للعرب، مثل غيرهم من الأمم، عقليةٌ خاصّة بهم، بها عُرفوا، ومنها عرفتهم الأمم الأخرى التي كانت تجاورهم وتعاديهم أيضا. إذن، لم يكن الجنسُ العربيُّ بِدعًا من الأجناس الأخرى، فقد كانت تربط أفرادَه وقبائلَه علاقاتٌ اجتماعيّة تتراوح بين القوّة والضّعف، وبين التّآلف والتّناحر، وبين الاتّحاد والتّفرّق، وبين السّلم والحرب. كما كان ذلك الالتزام من الفرد نحو رهطه، ومن الرّهط نحو القبيلة، ومن القبيلة نحو أبناء العمومة والخؤولة والمصاهرة من القبائل الأخرى، وبين القبيلة وحليفاتها في السّلم والحرب، وغير ذلك من العلاقات والالتزامات التي تشكّل حلقةً تكبر كلّما زادت العصبيّةُ وتضيق كلّما ضاقت. Abstract: The Arab undoubtedly inhabited an Arab environment limited by certain areas, varying terrain and a difficult climate, because we simply study a desert environment of which deserts and wastelands represent a large part. Arabs geography is important for such a study on the one hand, and for limiting this genus to a specific range on the other hand. The Arabs, like all other nations, had a mentality of their own, by which they were known, and through which they were known by other countries that were both neighboring and hostile to them. Therefore, the Arabian race was not an innovation of the other races. Its members and tribes had social relations that oscillated between strength and weakness, between harmony and rivalry, between union and division, and between peace and war. It was also the commitment of the individual to his group and of the group to the tribe, and of the tribe to cousins, kinship and mixed marriages of other tribes, and between the tribe and its allies in peace. and war, and other relationships and engagements that form a circle that grows as nervousness increases and narrows as it shrinks.
