Le Français Sur Objectifs Scientifiques: Les Sciences Médicales

Translators learners need to know that despite standardization efforts, they are still national or regional cultural conventions as well as varieties with textual levels, phrasal, argumentative, syntactic, lexical... In journal articles, encyclopedia articles, monographs, theses, dissertations, medicine course... the language of medical sciences is characterized by: - Reduction of syntax; - Expansion of the lexicon; - Removal of ambiguities; - Search for brevity, clarity, accuracy, economy, objectivity, neutrality; - Absences exclamatory phrases, redundancies, appreciative, personal and emotional terms; - Frequency of passive voice, no verbal elements (figures, images, diagrams, charts, curves, graphs...) sentative of (the result is that we get to... it appears that...), punctuation, abbreviations, units of measurement, markers of the chronology... - Use of the biunivocal relations, long phrases; - Rarity first and second persons of the future; - No use of the subjunctive. From corpus, which we have just described, it is to educate learners translators recurrent discursive operations: description, characterization, designation, prescription... They should know also that in the texts of field medical sciences, for example, where the approach is experimental, the description is omnipresent; static descriptions (material), dynamic descriptions (process) are mostly concentrated in the analysis of clinical signs. In the diagnostic part is the description and the name that dominate in the processing part, finally, is the prescription.
