The Rise Of Modern Democracy

Abstract

This article deals with the ideas that shaped modern democracy as we are witnessing in our days. It depicts the development of the key concepts of democracy from the 18th and 19th centuries where notions about freedom, equality and rule of law were mostly crystalized. It puts in our hands a map of the growth of modern democracy from the thoughts of the most influential thinkers of the Enlightenment era to the pivotal historic events that revolutionized the world of politics both in Europe and America giving birth to modern democracy.
