الملخص

Certain names and events of history of contemporary Algeria form important landmarks to trace the appearances of national identity. Undoubtedly that the important figures are those who had the big role of producing big events. However among these important names of this exceptional period of contemporary Algeria shines in the sky the name of Dey Hossein the last governor of Ottoman Algeria. The Algerian collective memory protected for this governor the famous Fan Affair which analysts disagree between two opinions: - The duty of a governor to behave so with the state consul who has not respected the rules of the Protocol - Influence of such behavior on behalf of the governor towards the French empire indicating the humiliation In fact, we have texts that reinforce the second opinion on Dey Hossein accusation that he succeeded the French invasion of Algeria in 1830 who was accused of obscurantism and recklessness. It would have been possible to circumvent this accusation if it had been emitted by unknown sources that had no value, but as was made by people who have their scientific and social power given to the subject the importance of the research.
