Media Legal Studies' The Nature Of Current Universal Principles Governing The Mass Media

Authors : Kessaissia Ali .

Abstract

Since the beginning of the twentieth century; various attempts have been made to establish universal principles through international organisations and specialised agencies such as the League of Nations and the International United Press Associations (IUPA). Attempts, like these, have covered areas of universal interests, political, economic, cultural, scientific and information fields. As a main source of information, mass media are of great importance regarding their potential impact on international relations. Mass media, defined in general terms, cover all forms of communication, printed and electronic, as well as the types of information transmitted (News, films, documentation, fiction ... ). They have been the subject of more or less binding measures taken by international, regional, or professional organisations, such as the United Nations Organisation, Unesco, European Conference on Securirity and Cooperation, and journalistic institutions (IUPA, IFJ; IOJ).
