Auteurs : Mahmoudi Sarah .

Résumé

Germany was one of the first countries to set up a compulsory education. The nursery school for the children from three to six years is optional, after the schooling becomes obligatory for 9ans although the majority of German make 13 years of studies before passing in higher education. Contrary to other Europeans, the Germans developed their education system so that it is most equitable possible. Although there exist special schools for the exceptionally gifted ones, there is no really elitist school (although attempts to create schools of this kind were made). In spite of its levelling approach, the German education system separates all the children with old ten years between three types of schools: Gymnasium, Realschule and Hauptschule. The children are separate according to the aptitudes shown at the time as of the first four years of primary education. Some criticize this choice, considering that it is too early to judge capacities of a child. Certain Länder, so created schools called Gesamtschulen gathering all the pupils until the old one of 15ans (equivalent of 3rd in France). To return to the university, the students must pass Abitur (Baccalaureat), which one passes to Gymnasium and in Gesamtschule. Critics say that the German education system is based on the maximization of the chances of a good career and school good performances that centered on a personal development (as in the USA or in the United Kingdom). The majority of the German schools offer few school extra activities, like sports clubs, leaving that to other organizations
