Assessing An Arab Literary Translation In The Light Of Bilingual Lexicography

Abstract

This study aims at showing the relationship between lexicography and translation with e reference to Amjjad Hussein's translation of D.H.Lawrenece's novel "Women in Love". This study consists of two parts: Theoretical and Practical. The former is composed of two sections while the latter consists of four sections. Section one gives an introduction, the aim, and the scope of the study. The researcher takes in his considerations the limits of the study so related information is only given. Section two deals with the lexicography as a term and this section also gives brief information concerning the dictionary and its types. The theoretical and practical lexicography is shown as well. Section three deals with translation: some accounts on translation and the role of the translator are given. Moreover; the relationship between translation and culture is obviously revealed. It gives notices on the translation of literary texts and some other notices on Lawrence's novel women In love'. Section four is the practical side of the study in which the relationship between bilingual lexicography is also stated. Some concluding remarks are given with a list of bibliography.
