الملخص

This article attempts to address the position of the Moroccan Sultan in the Treaty of Tafna in 1837. Due to the inability of the French forces that were working in Algeria to confront the Algerian resistance on two fronts, both eastern and western, especially after the failure of General Clausel to occupy Constantine in November 1836, All efforts and to provide all the possibilities to enable its forces to invade this city, and forget the defeat suffered by the army in front of the forces of Ahmed Bay * Constantine, and therefore the government was forced to search for a way to get through the calm and peace in the western region to devote full time to the eastern, Pain Aaudhat with Prince Abdul Qadir was with the beginning of 1837, after the appointment of General Brossard new commander of Oran, was the target of these negotiations to break the siege of the city of Tlemcen, ensuring the delivery of supplies to them, in exchange for the release of Algerian prisoners who signed in the French grip,
