الملخص

Abstract Historically, myth has been a rich source of knowledge for all humanity and Arabs in particular. Animals have enjoyed a central importance in Arabic culture and life. This importance manifests itself in the close relationship between the ancient Arab and animals as a source of food, shelter, means of transportation, and cure for diseases. The variety of animals and the mysticism that surrounds them pushed ancient Arabs to raise questions over a number of animals, and thus created myths as an attempt to answer them as well as an entertainment for children and close friends. Hence, this article attempts to explore a number of ancient Arabic myths, shedding light on its origin and evolution, and trying to decipher its codes and demystify their meanings.
