الملخص
This research aims to identify the nature of the relationship that exist between sport/physical education teachers’ attitudes towards the teaching profession and their relationship with teachers’ performance at secondary level. We will try to know about this relationship by studying the nature of teachers’ attitudes as being positive or negative and also by measuring the actual level of teachers’ performance through best practices in teaching a physical education and sport lesson. To attain our objective we opted for two tools: a scale attitude towards the teaching profession and a scale performance. Participants in the study were chosen randomly; a sample of 260 teachers was distributed in 06 wilayas situated in the centre and west of Algeria. After a statistical treatment using SPSS, the results show the existence of a very positive relationship between the two variables, a fact which indicates the strong relationship that correlates them. In addition results show that teachers have positive attitudes towards teaching physical education and these attitudes allow them to achieve a better performance of education and pedagogical skills related to planning, implementation, classroom management and assessment. We thus recommend a better reconstruction of positive attitudes towards the teaching profession among students in sport and physical education institutes to ensure successful outcomes.
