Authors : Noura Mansouri . Rachida Assabaa .

Abstract

The EL HARIA Technical Landfill TL (location: 40 kms North of Constantine, Algeria) is operated from 2010 until 2015 (the official site closure date), beyond which the waste is evacuated to another uncontrolled landfill (Next to TL), which causes another source of contamination. The leachate produced by the controlled and uncontrolled landfills, constitute a real source of an intense biological contamination, which degrades the microbiological quality of the superficial and underground water. In order to study the impacts on the environment, we made several sampling output during these periods (six different points), we gave the results to identify the strains. However, Enterobacteriaceae, Total coliforms and staphylococcus. The results gives more than 200 cfu / 100 ml staphylococcus (for a 50m of deep well), more than 200 CFU / 100ml coliforms (for a well of 120 m depth), these two points are located at 800 m down of the landfills, we have isolated 100 strains, or we find several pathogenic strains such as staphylococcus, enterobacter, acinetobacter, pseudomonas serratia phymuthyca, , salmonella spp, klepsiella, serratia marcescens ...... these results have shown that leachate causes several adverse effects on human health, Animal health and the environment so the lagoon treatment adopted by the technical landfill is no longer effective.
