Résumé

The aim of this paper is to understand and interpret how Algerian foreign language learners (FLL) achieve cross-cultural communication by focusing on the examination of their sociocultural representations. In other words, FLL and teachers construct representations of the Other, his language and culture that are sometimes positive and negative, and this can affect an effective cross-cultural communication.
