INHIBITING EFFECT OF ESSENTIEL OIL FROM Artimesia herba alba ON TWO STRAINS OF Fusarium oxysporum f. sp.radicis-lycopersici Abstrat- Fusarium. oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici is among the most aggressive soil fungi causing wilt and rot on tomato. In order to look for other alternatives to fight against this fungus, we study in this work the power of antifungal essential oil of Artemisia herba-alba extracted by steam distillation. This ability was investigated in vitro on solid medium agar against two strains, isolated from the first and the second variety Marmande and Agora. The oil at different concentrations (0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 5%) were added to PDA medium at a temperature of 40°C and then poured into petri boxes. Each is inoculated with mycelial an explants of about 5 mm in diameter, from a fungus culture aged one week. For each concentration of oil and for the control, three replicates were performed. Plates are then incubated at 25°C in the dark for 07 days. The effectiveness of each concentration studied, is estimated by calculating the percentage inhibition of growth of the fungus tested, according to relationship LEROUX and CREDET [1]. With a yield 1%, the essential oil of artemisia has shown remarkable efficacy of both strains with a minimum inhibitory concentration MIC of 2%. These results, although preliminary, show a good antifungal activity, to limit and inhibe stop the development of the pathogen agent.
