Privatization Lessons For Oil Exporters

Abstract
Within the framework of their market-oriented reforms many developing countries have embarked on programmes of privatization aimed at ending state ownership of an often-inefficient public sector . this paper revieus privatization issues for an oil-exporting country such as Algeria. Indonesia experience being considered in this context provides interesting lessons which could prove quite relevant to the ongoing process in Algeria . the contention is that the existence of a large oil-sector raises particular problems in implementing and benefiting from such programmer of privatization
