This article will aim to investigate theoretically the prospects for transplanting the notion of İ employee empowermentŞ to the specific organisational contexts of algerian firms; it will study and assess the projection of introducing employee empowerment as a performance management HR practice in the algerian work environment; an environment characterised with the exertion of authoritarian and bureaucratic managerial style. The rationale of this investigation is to critically review Human Resources Management literature around employee empowerment; algerian national and organizational culture and strategy implementation theories to structure of the article and derive from a set of theoretical frameworks (chosen and discussed throughout the paper) a series of three study axes to exploit and answer the research questions advanced.
