Résumé
Theaim of this article is to approach the maxims and principles ofpoliteness developed by the current theoretical frameworks with the codeof seemliness contained in the Qur'an since centuries ago. Fromrite of dialogue to the requirements of personal relationships requiredby the position of the parties to the dialogue, we will show successively how the Quranic text contains a recommendation that conforms toface-work as politeness specialists define it, and whichrepresents a topic of fruitful research in the field of pragmatics andsociolinguistics.
