الملخص

The media reflect the new degree of sophistication reached by the human communication, as a stage added to its predecessors, and named the stages of evolution of humanitarian communication from the perspective of transfer or transitions theory, exceeding all previous stages, and making them traditional and old. Therefore, each phase is then considered a new one, then to be supplanted by another one with all its characteristics and traits, depicting a kind of a continuousness and intermingling between them. the human society is experiencing today an unprecedented boom in the world of media, the development is so accelerated that scholars and researchers have not been able to determine its features and understand its roles and effects comparatively with traditional media, where a great deal of theories and ideas emerged in response to this wave of new media, and how it might change a lot of long-established concepts in the media field, as well as their potential effects on constituents of media process,… among others, which bring about a countless problematic in the communication field. Accordingly , we argue that the issue of needs is one of the most problematic concepts and among these most addressed within this intellectual interactions in media studies. A controversy that is more complicated by the fact that the concept of needs still raises uncertainty and questions in other fields of knowledge, particularly psychology, social psychology, in terms of defining it conceptually and setting a classification of the needs of different people. Media studies assigned a part of their research interests to understand the needs and motivations of public exposure to the media and the achieved gratifications , and they have been mainly associated with mass media. Today, the focus is upon the the problem of satisfying the needs through public exposure -as a communicative behavior- to the new media, in which the individual is overwhelmed, and especially with their characteristics compared to the traditional media, where the needs related to it have not been addressed exhaustively, when we are entering a new era with a new needs and new kinds of gratifications and a dearth of studies.
