Abstract The present contribution will address the possibility of adopting the classification of the Berber lexical units in pure alphabetical order in an unilingual dictionary Amazigh. To this end, we discuss the problem of classifying these units in the dictionaries and studies devoted to them. We count three types of ranking, in this case the classification in alphabetical order, the classification said by root and in the end the classification by radical. We will discuss in the first place the classification methods mentioned above; we give a special intention to the root and its application in the macrostructure of the dictionary. We will therefore discuss the very notion of root and the disadvantages of its application in this field. Finally, we propose some methods for applying the classification in alphabetical order.
