Chemical Composition Of The Essential Oils Of Foeniculum Vulgare From Mascara District

Résumé

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is an aromatic plant belonging to the family Apiaceae. It is traditionally used in the treatment of digestive disorders. The essential oil of fennel extracted by steam distillation was characterized by its physicochemical properties and analyzed by chromatography GC and GC/MS. The results of analysis revealed that the major product of essential oil is estragol(83,10%).Limonene and fenchone are the main monoterpenes.
