الملخص : لا زالت الآراء متباينة حول علاقة مخطوطات البحر الميت بالكنيسة المسيحية الأصلية، ولازال صراعا وجدلا كبيرا بين من يحاول أن يعقد الصلة بين معلم الحق والصدق المشار إليه في مخطوطات البحر الميت وبين المسيح تارة ويوحنا المعمدان أو يعقوب أخ المسيح -بحسب الأناجيل - تارة أخرى، وبين من ينفي أي صلة بالمسيح والمسيحية، رغم أن البراهين على تشابه معتقدات وطقوس وأفكار أصحاب المخطوطات مع الكنيسة الأولى عند مؤرخي المسيحية أرجح، وفي خضم هذا الجدل سعى اللاهوتيين المسيحيين إلى نفي هذه الصلة، وأن التشابه لا يعدو سوى أن يكون بسبب اشتراك النحلتين في الوسط والبيئة اليهودية، كما اتهموا من عمل على دراسة وبحث هذا الموضوع بالسعي للترويج لأفكار تهز المجتمع المسيحي بغرض تحقيق الشهرة والمال .
