الملخص
From the wild child of Aveyron to the spectrum of Autism, the concept of Autism remains ramifying and controversial. This approach is based on synchronic and diachronic analysis. The former attempts to study the etymology of the concept “Autism” whereas the latter tracks down the diagnosis syndrome and identifies the fundamental differences in diagnostic criteria; this is in accordance with the standards recognized by the scientific community of the world Health organization, particularly the DSM and CIM standards. This work aims at reducing the divergences on the concept “Autism”, the valorisation of heritage and the accumulation of scientific knowledge in order to make the diagnosis easier and more credible. Despite the hindrances that encountered the development of Autism diagnosis from Kanner’s autism up to the emergence of Autism spectrum, this work combines or includes the old items namely, Autism, Asperger's disorder, Childhood disintegrative disorder and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified. This helped in the clarification of the diagnosis and providing better opportunities for Autism spectrum disorder.
