Abstract

This study attempts to analyze the British agrarian policy in Tanganyika territory (Tanzania today) under British mandate with special reference to the first governor of the territory Sir Horace Byatt (1919 – 1924) who was neglected by historians. However, Tanganyika became under British Mandate after the partition of German colonies in Africa between Britain , France and Belgium and approved by the League of Nations
