Implementing The Core Values In Teaching English In The Algerian Middle Schools. A Case Study

Abstract

Core values and language are inseparable in their essence; therefore, any textbook developed for foreign language teaching should take into consideration its values aspects. The current study aims at investigating the core values elements presented in the newly introduced English textbook designed for teaching 4th grade Middle School learners.It’s worth noting that the present investigation deals with national identity, national conscience, citizenship and openess to the world. A mixed method was used to collect qualitative and quantitative data. The results have shown the importance of integrating the core values in designing a textbook syllabus.The bias in favor of the source core values is obvious throughout the textbook in terms of the reading, writing and speaking input
