The Capitalist Firm And His Compatibility With A Societal Mission

Authors : Belhadi Abdessamed .

Abstract

Although many literatures try to explain that socially responsible practices have a favorable impact on the performance of the corporation while taking into consideration the vocation of profit maximization, it remains that the initial business point is still built on an economic project that brings the stakeholders who have conflicting interests and dispersed preconceived ideas. By proposing a critical overview of the notion of corporate social responsibility (CSR), we will seek to appreciate if the capitalist model allows cohabitation between the economic and the social in a corporation. In particular, we will examine the extent in which CSR is still devoid of a consensual definition and remains an ambiguous concept. We will try to prove that this approach to the corporate is incompatible with the capitalist firm with a fragile consistency when we try to apply it to the corporation's internal operating processes.
