On X, Formerly Twitter, What Journalistic Roles Are Exhibited By Online News Outlets And Traditional Newspapers In Saudi Arabia?

Abstract

The current study sought to determine how various journalistic roles are performed by comparing news stories posted on X, formerly Twitter, by traditional newspapers and online news accounts in Saudi Arabia and the levels of engagement on X. The study shows that the Loyal Facilitator role is the most performed role in both news outlet accounts and that online newspapers had higher engagement levels on X, which corresponds .with previous research on the topic
