Abstract
This study focuses on the original thinking behind environmental taxes in France, emphasizing financial imperatives and environmental objectives. It provides an opportunity to present and clarify the role of environmental levies in achieving the environmental dimension of sustainable development by identifying what sustainable development is and environmental levies. In addition to analyzing the French experience in the field of eco-taxes, the study has resulted in a number of findings.
