Abstract

This study offers a comprehensive snapshot of Bejaia's economic landscape, highlighting the clustering of businesses and individuals. Our approach combines statistical analysis with on-site research, revealing Bejaia's pivotal role as a central hub for various activities and emphasizing its status as a magnet for pendular immigration. Through a blend of quantitative and qualitative methodologies, we shed light on Bejaia's pivotal economic significance. Statistical insights underscore its position as a thriving activity nucleus, while on-the-ground investigations delve into Bejaia's role as a dynamic arena of pendular immigration. Our findings underscore that Bejaia's economic vibrancy has its flip side, manifesting in challenges to urban infrastructure and quality of life. This raises concerns about the prevailing urban configuration's compatibility with holistic human development goals. In essence, the city's economic dynamism, while driving progress, reveals a complex interplay with the construction and sustenance of a conducive living environment. In summary, our study provides a nuanced depiction of Bejaia's economic fabric, revealing its centrality in driving various sectors.
