The High Islamic Council As A Consultative Constitutional Institution In Algeria

Abstract

The Supreme Islamic Council is a consultative constitutional institution, stipulated in successive Algerian constitutions, the latest of which is the constitutional amendment of 2020 in Article 206. It is governed by Presidential Decree No. 98-33 of January 24, 1998 relating to the High Islamic Council. It undertakes the tasks of urging and promoting ijtihad, and expressing the Sharia ruling in He is presented with issues of concern to Algerian society.
