Microscopic Investigation Of Paper Surface Damage Associated With Electrostatic Detection Apparatus (esda) Effect

Authors : Zemouli Mansour .

Abstract

The microscopic nature of paper surface damage was investigated in associated with the ESDA effect using the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). A viewpoint is presented concerning the physical process of ESDA for the detection of indented impressions on document. It is demonstrated that the ESDA image is developed for the distribution of loose filler particles produced within the paper surface when writing. The involvement of pen pressure for ESDA image was also investigated using image processing software. This experiment aimed to assess the possibility of distinguishing several individuals’ writing based on the difference of the pen pressure when writing.
