Technology Climate Of Algeria: Comparative Study (2008-2019)

Abstract
This study assesses Algeria’s technology climate, as measured by the Frontier Technology Readiness Index developed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). This index comprises ICT, skills, R&D, industry activity and access to finance. Giving the importance of digitalization in economic growth, this study answers the query of the technology climate in Algeria. It analyzes its positions in global, African and regional scales over the past decade, from UNCTAD data. The results reveal its poor technology climate. This study aims to explore the reasons behind its low rankings. It implicates the need to revise the Algerian economic growth model including technological factors.
