Abstract

This study contributes to the diagnosis of El Mellah Lagoon trace metal contamination by assessing their accumulation in the tissues of the brackish water cockle Cerastoderma glaucum (Bivalvia: Cardiidae). Our findings show that bivalves accumulated metals in the following order: Cd< Pb< Cu< Zn, with significant seasonal variations that were much below the recommended guide values.
