The Procedure Of The International Criminal Court

Authors : Zouina Houda .

Abstract

Abstract: The International Criminal Court is the first judicial body of a permanent nature. The Statute and its Supplement to the Rules of Procedure and Evidence are regarded as the codification of international criminal proceedings and the referral is made either by States parties or by the Security Council or the Prosecutor. After the admissibility of the case by the International Criminal Court and the confirmation of the charges, the Prosecutor initiates an investigation, noting that the Pre-Trial Chamber has a supervisory role over its powers. It allows him to initiate the investigation or dismiss it. It also approves the charges and issues warrants of arrest, summons or pretrial detention.
