Measuring The Efficiency Of Algerian Central Bank Against Inflation

Abstract

Abstract: This article attempts to assess the effectiveness of targeting inflation policy to reduce inflation in Algeria during the period 1990-2020, using annual data. In our research, inflation is represented by the change in the money supply (M) and the gross domestic product (GDP). The obtained results showed the weak effect of monetary policy in influencing inflation rates is due to the lack of complete independence of the Central Bank of Algeria in taking the correct decisions and measures to reduce inflation Rates. Résumé : Cet article tente d'évaluer l'efficacité de la politique de ciblage de l'inflation pour réduire l'inflation en Algérie au cours de la période 1990-2020, en utilisant des données annuelles. Dans notre recherche, l'inflation est représentée par la variation de la masse monétaire (M) et du produit intérieur brut (PIB). Les résultats obtenus ont montré le faible effet de la politique monétaire sur les taux d'inflation est dû au manque d'indépendance complète de la Banque centrale d'Algérie dans la prise de décisions et de mesures appropriées pour réduire les taux d'inflation. الملخص: حاولنا خلال هذا المقال تقييم فعالية سياسة استهداف التضخم لخفض التضخم في الجزائر خلال الفترة 1990-2020 باستخدام البيانات السنوية. في بحثنا هذا، اخترنا أن يتم تمثيل التضخم بالتغير في عرض النقود (M) والناتج المحلي الإجمالي (GDP). أظهرت النتائج التي تم الحصول عليها ضعف مفعول السياسة النقدية في التأثير في معدلات التضخم وذلك راجع الى عدم وجود استقلالية كاملة للبنك المركزي الجزائري في اتخاذ القرارات والتدابير الصحيحة للتقليل من معدلات التضخم.
