Orbital Cellulitis In Infant: Case Report.

Abstract

This case report describes a 14 months baby presented with left sided orbital cellulitis evolving in the last 6 days after a badly managed ocular traumatism which was treated with oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAI). Symptoms included Swelling and redness of the eyelid, pain and proptosis. Rapidly, this infant was admitted at the hospital and underwent an ultrasound, TC scan and serum exams which demonstrated the interesting of the profound orbital tissues plus the elevation of the reactive C protein and WBC. The infant was treated with intravenous antibiotics therapy with success within 10 days. In summary, this case would like to report an uncommon child orbital cellulitis evolving after ocular traumatism and stress the danger of a misdiagnosis and an inappropriate therapy which could lead to severe complications.
