Résumé
The novel «Farewell to Matyora» is the first work of Rasputin, which fully reflects thе conception of a human and history that will manifest itself in the later works of the writer. The question of the value of a human in the dynamically changing world in the turn of the Millennium is revealed. His relation to the nature, past and present, traditions and laws of conscience are reviewed. The article also examines the image of the main heroine of the story.
