In this article, we have discussed Arabic legal terminology with religious value. These are the terms of Islamic law on which the Algerian family code is based, which groups together the rules determining family relations in Algeria. According to a multilingual equivalence approach, we found that the equivalents proposed in French and Spanish for the same terms of the Arabic language of Islamic law do not highlight the same communicative and functional value. By analysing this value, we have tried to find out whether the decisions taken by the translators are imposed by linguistic, discursive or cultural context. This description highlights the serious translation problems posed by Islamic law terms and the reasons for these constraints are due to the religious and cultural connotations conveyed by these terms.
