الملخص
Abstract This research aims at identifying the level of mental health, emotional intelligence and the relationship between them in a group of students with special needs. They are ( learning difficulties, motor impairment, visual impairment, hearing impairment), and to realize the aims of the research, a scale for measuring mental health has been prepared. It is composed of (20) items, and a scale of emotional intelligence that comprises (30) items. They have been applied to a random sample of (368) male students with special needs in the intermediate stage in Tabuk Ministry of Education schools. The results have shown that the arithmetic mean for the responses of the individuals for each of the mental health scale and emotional intelligence scale is less than the reasonable hypothetical mean and the difference is statistically significant. There is statistically significant differences in the responses of individuals to the two scales – mental health scale and emotional intelligence scale- and that could be attributed to level of education of the individual respondent, and in favor of higher level of education. Also there are statistically significant differences in the means for the responses of the students for the scales of mental health and emotional intelligence in favor of the visual impairment and learning difficulties. The study has pointed to the existence of a statistically significant correlation between the average of the responses to the mental health scale and the emotional intelligence scales. The study comes out with some recommendations and suggestions.
